Product Mission​

Accelerate community adoption of the XMTP SDK.

Goal 1: Provide a reliable environment for developers to release web and mobile applications​

At the end of Q3...

  • Messages in conversations have never been intentionally wiped or rendered unrecoverable in production.
  • The authentication protocol has not prevented developers from developing or releasing apps.
  • React Native developers can make full use of the XMTP SDK.

Goal 2: Assist developers with enabling a successful end-to-end Discord #announcements experience​

At the end of Q3...

  • Senders can send messages to unregistered recipients.
  • Developers know how to display a user’s new messages as native push notifications on iOS, Android, and macOS.
  • Developers know how to forward a user’s new messages to a Telegram, Slack, or Discord account.
  • Users can securely permit multiple delegate accounts to send and receive messages using a single identity.

Goal 3: Define and adopt ambitious and differentiated standards for end-user security and privacy​

At the end of Q3...

  • Users can securely use a single identity and access their historical messages across multiple devices and browser sessions.
  • Accounts cannot be identified from message headers or conversation topics.
  • We have articulated a set of security properties that will not be compromised for expedient feature enablement.
  • We have identified and mitigated prior security choices that we struggle to defend.

Goal 4: Demonstrate key use cases and best practices to the developer community​

At the end of Q3...

  • We have published a React Native code example demonstrating a mobile inbox with push notifications.
  • We have published a React code example demonstrating how delegate accounts can send announcements using a shared identity.
  • We have reconstituted the existing Chat code example as a simple React boilerplate and component library.
  • We have published initial brand and interface guidelines.

Goal 5: Build developer trust and credibility regarding progressive decentralization​

At the end of Q3...

  • We have published a phased decentralization roadmap for operating the network that guides our decisions.
