Hello all! We’re trying out a new format for our investor updates, so let us know what you think.
Current tagline
XMTP is the messaging protocol and network for web3.
Note: We’re adding this to our monthly updates so that we’re always on the same page for how we talk about XMTP.
Financials
- Cash in Bank: $23,903,448 (Community round still to close ~$900k)
- Current burn target: Working on budgeting now
- Runway at current burn: 96 months
- Team size: 6
Updates
- We’ve sent our first test messages! The initial XMTP node software (xmtpd) has been written and the first test messages sent.
- Auth with Ethereum is first, and currently working.
- This puts us on time to see a working alpha up and running before EOY
- Hired an amazing senior product manager (currently at Apple) who wowed our entire team. They reached out to us cold on Twitter, and with each interview and reference call we felt more and more sure. They’ll start at the end of November. This brings our team to 7.
- NFT.NYC is coming up, and we’re hosting a small gathering (75-100) to give a sneak preview of XMTP, with a presentation and an invitation to our alpha team.
- If you’ll be in NYC, join our Telegram group. Link is here.
- Also please come join us for our sneak peek event on 11/1. Invite is here. Password is “inbox”.
- We’ve got some amazing candidates in the pipeline, some with final interviews this week where we’ll be sending out more offers
- There’s a strong inbound from web3 and crypto teams looking to add or leverage messaging for their products. We’re working with each on timing and will be prioritizing a few initial use cases as our alpha testers.
Asks
- Hiring remains a big priority right now, and we’ve got a number of roles that we’re looking to fill. Link is here.
- We’re working on a few new job reqs that aren’t up just yet: Engineering Manager (or VP of Engineering) and Security Engineer. If you’ve got any connections that might fit that description, send them our way!
- Among the open positions, we’re particularly keen to see our Protocol engineer role filled soon. This one will help us with the early design of our consensus mechanisms and node incentivization structure.
- We’d love for investors who happen to be engineers to join us on our Discourse forum (soon to migrate to the .org as mentioned above). We’ll be posting periodic updates and requests for comment on our early specs, code, and progress. Invite is here.
- Our investors-only Telegram group is still open for those of you who haven’t joined yet. Invite is here.
