Hi team,
It feels good to be onboarding @snormore this past week, in final chats with another great person, and so many signals from our community that this problem needs to be solved and is a huge opportunity.
I’m going to keep this update short as next week we get started building.
News this week
- Welcome @snormore! We couldn't be more excited to welcome Steven to the team. Our first Canadian team member!
- Continued talks with Abhishek about joining, he's doing some more thinking and we plan to hear back from him this week
- Great update from @petermdenton with our recruiting tool. It's clear that this can soon become more of a "Marketing Orchestration" tool that allows us to build cohorts, map them, and turn this into a marketing tool for XMTP. First Airdrops, then Message on XMTP. Here's the latest:
- I will be in NYC next week at #mainnet2021 meeting with all of our investors as well as DeFi partners
This really helps us do much better strategic outbound and community development using the Twitter Graph.

A week in the life with Steven Normore
This past weekend was pretty quiet in my house. I live in Ottawa 🇨🇦 ❄️, and winter is not too far away, so it's perfect weather for walking or hiking outside. I did exactly that with my 2 dogs, Nixon and Winston. I also spent some time hacking around on and learning about building gRPC services with Rust and the tooling ecosystem around it, and played a little with IPFS and IPFS-log as storage and transport mechanisms for peer-to-peer communications. That's it, a quiet weekend. I'll leave it with pictures of Nixon and Winston:
