I'm Darick. I've been doing design for over a decade now and have led multiple teams at various companies. Really love what I do and am looking forward to constantly redefining my own definition of what design is and its impact on the world.

Where are you currently based?
Portland, OR. I live about 12 minutes outside of downtown Portland. 1.5 hours from the Oregon Coast/Pacific Ocean. 1.5 hours to Mt. Hood. 2.5 hours south of Seattle.

Where did you grow up?
A rare Portland native! Both my daughters were born in the same hospital as I was.
What does your household look like?
Wife, 2 daughters (4 year old named Malia and a 8 month old named Isabelle), dog (miniature Dachshund named Dexter)

What keeps you energized?
Creating great design, learning about new concepts/ideas, and contributing any way I can to build strong teams.
Anything else you'd like to share about yourself?
Love movies, music, TV shows, sports, pop culture, sub-cultures, food, crypto, money, markets, equities, pretty much everything
Work preferences
Where on the spectrum of introvert to extrovert would you place yourself?
Equally both extroverted and introverted. I love to go to events and network but always prefer to end the night alone to reflect and recharge.

Right away, Please schedule a time to talk the next day, when I've had time to prepare

What's your orientation toward conflict?
I see conflict as mainly positively. I think conflict and tension can create opportunities to be introspective and analyze issues and problems as a team.

Early morning, Mid morning, Evening, Late at night
What do you value more than anything else?
Creating strong design work or conceptual ideas
What's your biggest work-related pet peeves?
Big egos
What does 'work-life balance' mean to you?
Having the mental space to be able to not worry about losing your job when you're enjoying on your life but also not having work constantly distracting you when you're not actually working.
Anything else you'd like to share about what makes for your ideal work environment?
Always maintaining a professional work environment and a focus on strong and efficient communication. I'm here to create the best design possible and hearing honest and open feedback is the only way we can get there.
What's your favorite way to decompress after work?
Spending time with my kids, listening to music undistracted, working out, zoning out with video games
